Taiwan Organic Cotton

Cotton flowers, early is yellow, near noon will turn pink, to the evening will become dark red. The next day, the flowers will fall, and the flowers will turn into "small cotton bolls". After about a month, they will change from green. The longer they grow, the bigger they will burst. The white things inside are known as "cotton".
When it comes to "cotton", many people's impression is the comfort brought by pure cotton clothes. Generally known as "cotton" is not "flower", but the fiber in the seed; 60% of the weight of cotton comes from cottonseed, while only 40% of the actual cotton wadding can be used for spinning. Is cotton just a source of clothing? You may not know that cotton can not only be transformed into natural fiber for clothing, cottonseed can be pressed into vegetables, and cottonseed shell can also be used as roughage for ruminants. According to the records of traditional Chinese medicine books, cotton root has the effect of relieving cough and expectoration, and can also improve prostate and hepatitis problems. It can be said that it is a treasure from head to toe!

   Is Taiwan cotton production true?
Organic cotton is a sustainable bonus
When it comes to cotton, most of them think of India, Xinjiang, or the United States. How many young people today know that Taiwan once produced cotton? Let alone the existence of "organic cotton fields" in Taiwan? Let's talk about a little story!
In other words, there was a large-scale cotton planting in Taiwan long ago, especially in the central and southern parts of Taiwan. More than 60 years ago, the total cotton planting area in Taiwan reached more than 6000 hectares, which can be called the peak period. Since then, Taiwan has steadily planted about 2000 hectares of cotton every year. However, due to the increasingly expensive labor costs, Taiwan cotton has entered the history and replaced by cotton from India, the United States and other countries. Today, only about 6 hectares of cotton land is left in Taiwan.
The growing environment of cotton must be dry, hot and sunny. Most of the world's major cotton producing areas are close to deserts, but there is no water shortage. However, Taiwan is windy and rainy, and harvesting is inconvenient. Once the cotton is wet, it must be dealt with as soon as possible, otherwise it will grow into insects. The problem of diseases and insect pests is quite serious (especially the beetle and moth larvae). Therefore, insecticides and pesticides have become the necessary supplies for farmers to plant. According to the past statistics, the global cotton fields use 25% of the total amount of pesticides, which not only pollutes the environment, but also makes clothes into "natural fibers" through the production chain, and then sells them to all parts of the world. Pesticide residues may further harm the health of consumers by wearing them close to the body's skin. As a result, the rise of the concept of non-toxic, led to the "organic cotton" farming.

   Only organic planting in Taiwan
   100% MIT cotton products
"Organic" is a production mode that does not pollute the environment, does not damage the ecology, and can provide consumers with health and safety products. It does not use chemical fertilizers and pesticides. According to the definition of organic cotton in Texas Organic Program of the United States, the cotton planted after more than three years of application of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is called "organic cotton".
Wang Zhiying, general manager of Taiwan Organic Cotton innovation technology / Green en Organic Agriculture Co., Ltd., has been working in Thailand for many years. Due to the opportunity to plant organic cotton under the meeting, they decided to bring organic cotton back to Taiwan for rooting development and replanting, hoping to promote it to the international market in the future, And find out the natural way to repel insects. In the first two years of organic cotton cultivation, the husband and wife had no money to lose. However, their efforts paid off. Through the improvement of cotton varieties, the breakthrough of planting technology and the improvement of biological pest control, they finally achieved the glory of this cotton field and obtained the certification of organic cotton in Taiwan.
After the successful planting and production of good organic cotton, from seed removal, spinning, weaving to design, it transformed into local high-quality organic cotton fabric, and then integrated with cultural and creative elements, developed fashionable and environmental protection products, from quilts, towels, socks, pillows and other diversified daily necessities, and then developed natural plant dyeing art products, handicrafts, flower arranging materials, fashion clothes, etc, Taiwan's unique new organic cotton industry has been created through cross industry cooperation. In addition, in order to let more people in Taiwan understand and contact organic cotton, more open the tourism teaching in the cotton Park, combine cotton, cultural innovation, DIY, eco-tourism, farm experience, etc., to create a cultural innovation leisure industry with local characteristics.
In response to "world cotton day", one of Taiwan's "2020 world cotton day" experience activities is to invite people to visit lven organic cotton farm in Guoxing Township, Nantou County. It not only helps to understand the cotton industry and cotton products, but also promotes the consumption of cotton products.
