Generally speaking, textile testing is to detect the comprehensive properties and overall quality of textile fibers, yarns, fabrics and even garments. The routine testing items are fiber content, pH value, formaldehyde content, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dye and color fastness.

As the name implies, it is to detect the fiber composition and its content of textile raw materials, and the fiber content of raw materials will directly affect the quality of finished products. Therefore, fiber content is the most basic and important item in textile detection.

   PH value

In the process of textile printing and dyeing, dyes are not washed or neutralized more or less, resulting in excessive acid and alkali over fabric, which is beyond the pH range of human skin. It is easy to cause skin itching, allergy, inflammation and other diseases, and affects human health. In order to improve the safety performance of textiles, the pH value is also an important index. The national mandatory standard GB 18401 - 2010 "national textile basic safety technical specification" clearly stipulates:

   Formaldehyde content

In fabric production, in order to achieve the role of wrinkle resistance, shrinkproof, or to maintain the durability of printing or dyeing, or to improve the handle, it is necessary to add formaldehyde to the auxiliaries. Formaldehyde containing textiles will gradually release free formaldehyde in people's wearing and using process, thus jeopardizing the health of people dressed. Therefore, formaldehyde content is also one of the important indicators of textile detection.

Decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes are dyes that can be synthesized from carcinogenic aromatic amines, commonly known as banned azo dyes. For textile safety indicators, decomposing aromatic amines is more toxic and carcinogenic than formaldehyde. Because formaldehyde has a pungent odor, easily distinguishable, and soluble in water. After consumers buy Textiles, they can remove most of the formaldehyde by washing with water. However, after decomposing aromatic amine dyes into clothes, they are not only insoluble in water, but also colorless and tasteless, and can not be distinguished from the appearance of textiles. Only by technical inspection can they discover and can not be eliminated. This dye can cause a variety of malignant diseases and absorb cancer through contact with human skin. Therefore, the importance of detecting carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes can be imagined.

Color fastness

Whether dyestuff is affected by various external factors, whether it can retain its original color or not, is used in dyeing or dyeing. The fastness rating is evaluated according to the color change of the sample and the stain of the undyed fabric.

Conventional color fastness includes: colour fastness to soaping, colour fastness to water, colour fastness to perspiration, colour fastness to rubbing, fastness to light, light fastness and sweat fastness. The conventional color fastness (except for light fastness) is of 5 grades, the 1 is the worst, the 5 is the best, the light fastness is 8, the 1 is the worst, and the 8 is the best.
