Fibers, such as polyester, acrylic acid and elastic fibers, account for

European Union

Textile raw material market share of 75%.

However, most of these raw materials come from non renewable petrochemical products, and there is an urgent need to replace them with renewable biomass materials.

The European Union seventh R & D framework plan (FP7) provides 2 million 200 thousand euros in support, and the total R & D investment is 2 million 900 thousand euros, which is composed of 4 European Union member countries, namely, Spain (total coordination), France, Czech and Greece, and the European ECOLASTANE R & D team of the main textile industry joint scientific and technological circles.

Since its establishment in March 2013, it has gradually developed into a renewable textile industry at the EU level.

Close cooperation in R & D, innovation and public-private partnership (PPP) will be a long-term commitment to R & D, innovation and commercialization of renewable textile technology.

ECOLASTANE R & D team, as far as possible, uses low value cellulose, hemicellulose or lignin of renewable plant raw materials, uses advanced low carbon production and processing paths, develops furan formaldehyde (CF) and hydroxymethyl furfural (HMF), and successfully develops new synthetic textile polyester and elastic fibers.

Various functional indicators are being tested to further optimize the conversion efficiency of furfural and hydroxymethyl furfural, including making full use of xylose molecules from renewable plants.

Up to now, the R & D team has identified 3 kinds of renewable plants: Miscanthus, almond shells and pine sawdust, which have the advantage of mass production of renewable artificial textile fibers.

The R & D team is seeking new industrial manufacturing partners and regional partners to jointly develop and produce the engineering production technology of renewable artificial textile fiber raw materials, and actively contribute to the EU's 2030 energy and climate strategy and to the pformation of bio based economic sustainable development.
