Russian Consumers' Interest In Online Shopping Shifted From Electronic Products To Clothing

   Russia Business consulting website recently reported that in the first quarter of 2013 and the first quarter of 2014, Russian retail trade and online retail survey data showed that the number of users querying on the Internet was at most electronic products, clothing and footwear.


Analysts say consumers' interest in online products is steadily shifting from electronic products to clothing. The highest number of enquiries grew in the smaller market: pet products increased by 36%, jewellery increased by 31%, children's articles increased by 30%, while electronic products increased by only 12%.


On the whole, e-commerce, especially online retailing, has been developing steadily. The top 30 retailers in 2013 gained more than 180 billion rubles through Internet channels, accounting for 1/3 of the total e-commerce market in Russia.


Retailers sell Internet sales across all parts of Russia. The top 5 online retail outlets include Moscow, Samarra, Kazan, St Petersburg and Krasnodar, with an average of 96% online stores in these cities.
