According to the Bangladesh authorities, there are less than 200 factories in compliance with safety standards in the country, and it takes at least 5 years to check the whole industry.


In the summer of 2013, 17 North American retailers, including Wal-Mart Stores Inc (WMT.N) WAL-MART and Gap Inc (GPS.N), had introduced the 5 year security plan of Bangladesh, which included the inspection of all Bangladesh supplier safety issues within one year, while retailers spent $42 million to build a foundation to implement the plan. However, the detailed plan and implementation of the plan has not been introduced yet.
