Compared with the previous year, the agreed import tariffs of China's leather industry products in 2012 continued to be lowered from Peru, Taiwan, Chile, New Zealand, Pakistan and other free trade zones; It has also signed a free trade agreement with Costa Rica, which provides greater preferential tariff for leather products imported from Costa Rica.


In 2012, China's average import tariff on leather products imported from Peru was 6.04%, 6.1 percentage points lower than the average import tariff of the most favoured nation, and 1.04 percentage points lower than the previous year. Among them, the import tariff of raw cowhide has been reduced to zero.


In 2012, China reduced the import tariff on some leather chemical materials, plastic or textile bags, boots and shoes parts imported from Taiwan. The average import tariff on leather chemical products fell from 6.28% of the previous year to 4.25%.
