Market participants said that before 2003, the Russian leather clothing market was in great demand, thus promoting the prosperity of the leather clothing market in Haining.

Since 2003, along with the implementation of the new Russian Customs Law and the process of applying for accession to the WTO, the risk of Haining's leather clothing exports to Russia has increased, resulting in an annual decline in exports to Russia.

Faced with the situation of export obstruction to Russia, some of Haining's leather clothing export enterprises are in low spirits, and some enterprises simply reduce or abandon trade with Russia.

In this regard, some experts believe that Haining leather clothing exports to Russia sharply reduced, both Russia's restrictions on policy factors, but also related to the shortcomings of their own development.

Because Haining's leather clothing exports to Russia are mainly middle and low grade products, the added value of products is low, and the development strategy has not been adjusted in time. The competitive advantage has not been comparable with those of Vietnam, India, Turkey and other countries.

Such factors as RMB appreciation, export tax rebate and price rise of raw materials have increased the production cost of enterprises to a certain extent, resulting in the reduction of profit margins and the shrinking of market share.

Facing the current situation, some Haining leather and clothing enterprises have begun to realize that, to get rid of the development dilemma, one is to forge ahead, constantly improve the product grade and added value; two, we should actively develop new market, implement diversification strategy, weaken the dependence on the Russian market, reduce the risk of trade market; the three is to carry out multi-level marketing channel construction, both internal and external marketing and the construction of a diversified marketing network.

At present, many enterprises are making efforts in this direction.
