ISO/TC133 (International Organization for Standardization / clothing size series and Code Committee) was established in 1969 to be responsible for international standardization of garment size series and codes based on anthropometric measurements. The ISO/TC133 secretariat was originally located in South Africa and its representative body is South Africa's National Bureau of standards (SABS). But in the past twenty years, the Committee has been in a state of suspension (stand-by) and has no work items. Since 2007, the National Standardization Management Committee, the China Textile Industry Association, the China clothing association, the Shanghai Clothing Research Institute (the Secretariat of the national garment Standardization Technical Committee) and Bosideng Limited company With the joint efforts of other units, after consultations with the South African Secretariat many times, in July 2010, at the sixth ISO/TC133 international standard meeting, the meeting reached a resolution of the conference of the ISO/TC133 Secretariat jointly sponsored by the South African Standard Bureau and the China National Standardization Management Committee. At present, the Committee has 20 formal member states (Participating Country) and 20 observer countries (Observing country), which issued 14 items of ISO standard and 1 technical reports.

The South Africa Conference is China's first meeting as a ISO/TC133 Secretariat. It is also China's first "leading role" to promote the successful convening of the ISO/TC133 conference and the start of various work. It marks an important step towards the internationalization of China's garment standardization. The level of participation in international standardization reflects, to a certain extent, the technological strength and industrial strength of a country in this field. The constant promotion of the international standardization of clothing will play an important role in enhancing the international competitiveness of our clothing products and enhancing the international discourse power.
