Chinese Coastal Shoe Makers Face Power Shortages

according to China Leather Industry Association The recent shortage of electricity in China has caused the shoe makers in coastal areas to encounter difficulties, especially in July and August.

The power shortage in Sujiang District of Taizhou has exceeded 90000kw, resulting in many shoe factories failing to function properly. Some companies have to find other ways to generate electricity themselves to maintain operation.

For example, according to the association, WAL-MART footwear Supplier Wozi can maintain more than three hundred million of its output this year, thanks to the installation of generators (last year's cost of one million yuan), despite the existence of high power production and pollution problems.
