The following statement was made at the meeting.

The conference was attended by a number of shoe companies from Zhejiang, Fujian and Guangdong.

If the EU's anti-dumping on Chinese leather shoes ended at the end of March, it means that the EU's anti-dumping measures against China for 16 years have come to an end.

Between 1995 and 2005, the EU imposed a quota limit of 10 years on Chinese leather shoes.

In October 7, 2006, it imposed a 16.5% high anti-dumping duty on Chinese leather shoes for two years.

Zhejiang Wenzhou AOKANG shoe industry yesterday told reporters yesterday, October 23, 2006

AOKANG

5 Chinese shoe companies appealed to the European Union Primary Court, but in October 2008, after the expiration of the anti-dumping duty for two years, the European Union launched the final review again. In December 22, 2009, it decided to extend the anti-dumping measures for another 15 months. In April last year, the Chinese government set up an expert group on the appeal of China's complaint against the EU's anti dumping measures against China's leather shoes, WTO, and formally launched the WTO dispute settlement expert group proceedings.

Wei Yafei, director of the footwear association of China Leather Association, which has long been concerned about the above anti-dumping cases, said that although the anti-dumping measures are expected to end at the end of March, footwear companies must seriously study the EU's laws and regulations on leather shoes export, standardize their own business practices and comply with industry rules, creating a favorable environment for the export of Chinese shoe enterprises.

She warned that although the EU may cancel anti-dumping duties, the EU is currently seeking control measures including trade subsidies, market access and intellectual property rights.

Wang Zhentao, chairman of AOKANG group, said on the same day that the cancellation of dumping duties is a "burden reduction" for export enterprises. However, Chinese domestic enterprises need to increase the value added of product research and development and brand, develop diversified markets, optimize the structure of export products, and emphasize the construction and protection of independent intellectual property rights.
