Asia Pacific Has Great Potential And APEC To Work Together.
US trade representative Ron Kirk recently worked in APEC.

At the summit of industrial and commercial leaders, the Asia Pacific region has great potential and is crucial to the future development of US trade. The United States attaches great importance to its trade partnership with other members of APEC.
Kirk delivered keynote speech on the topic "the US and APEC partners in Global trade".
He said: "we (the United States) recognize that the Asia Pacific region as a catalyst for global economic growth and recovery plays a special role and has special potential."
He said that actively dealing with other members of APEC is "crucial to the future development of US trade".

Trade between other members of OECD has provided support for the expansion of employment and business and community development in the United States.
APEC members play an important role in the US foreign trade relations. Four of the five largest export markets in the United States are APEC members.
In 2008, bilateral trade between the United States and other members of APEC exceeded US $2 trillion and 300 billion.
Kirk also said that the United States supports APEC to achieve regional integration.
He mentioned in particular that when President Obama delivered a speech in Japan earlier that day, he announced that the United States would work with some APEC members to establish a p Pacific Partnership.
Regarding the Doha Round negotiations of the world trade organization, Kirk said that the positive results of the negotiations are beneficial to all members of APEC and that all members have the responsibility to reach an agreement as soon as possible, which is a key factor for the recovery of the global economy.
The Doha Round negotiations have been going on for eight years, as the main members of WTO are in agriculture.
