The LV flagship store in Champs Elysees, France, is ready to open its doors on Sunday to do business, challenging the court ban in the financial tsunami and insisting on business on Sunday.

The company said that if it was open on Sunday, it would be able to maintain the employment of 70 employees.

In order to protect workers' right to rest, France stipulates that the general retail stores can only have 5 Sunday business in a year, except for a few cultural, entertainment, leisure and sports industries in the tourist area.

The LV flagship store was approved by the Paris district court at the end of 2005, but it could be opened on Sunday, but it led to many trade unions, such as the clothing industry, the jewelry industry, and so on.

The Supreme Court finally overturned the decision of the district court, ruling that LV must comply with the non business rules on Sunday.

A spokesman for LVMH, the parent company of LV, said the flagship store in Paris was open on Sunday, involving 70 employees.

The French feel in a dilemma about LV's business on Sunday. They believe that LV should be allowed to open on Sunday, but labor rights are equally important. For fear that this case will be opened, employees who are not willing to work on Sunday may be dismissed by their employers in the future.

Since the financial tsunami, the French economy has been hit hard and the number of unemployed has been rising.

In order to stimulate consumption, French President Sarkozy vigorously promoted Sunday business.
